Main deck

  • The Hanse 588 is a blue-water cruising yacht of 17.20 metres born from the drawing board of the esteemed naval architecture studio Judel/Vrolijk & Co.. Produced by the German shipyard between 2016 and 2024, this boat embodies the philosophy of a large family cruiser, where imposing volumes,
  • 🏗️ Construction Features and Hull Engineering
  • The construction of the Hanse 588 relies on rigorous and proven industrial processes from the shipyard, focused on robustness and insulation:
  • • Sandwich and Solid GRP Composite: The hull adopts a sandwich structure with a balsa wood core in the deadwork (to ensure excellent thermal and acoustic insulation as well as weight reduction), while the quickwork (below the waterline) and deck are made of
  • • Structural Reinforcements in Carbon: To uniformly distribute the enormous stresses generated by the rig, the shipyard has integrated structural reinforcements in carbon fibre in the area of the chain plates and the bottom grid. The main bulkheads are fully laminated to the hull.
  • • Hydraulic Flow Management (No Traditional Channels): A deliberate and distinctive engineering choice of the model is the absence of traditional channels on the side decks. Rainwater or seawater that rises on board is channelled and diverted directly along the deck lines to flow over the
  • 📐 Deck Plan and External Ergonomics
  • The deck plan develops on a concept of total visual cleanliness, ample relaxation spaces and management centred on the Mediterranean cockpit:
  • • Cockpit "Scavata" and Sunbathing Area: Forward of the mast and the self-tacking jib track, the cockpit features a geometric recess designed to accommodate a sunbathing area flush with the deck. This design not only improves aesthetics, giving a sleek and aggressive profile, but also guarantees
  • • The T-Top Rigido (Hard Top Bimini): One of the most relevant technological innovations for outdoor comfort is the robust optional T-Top in GRP. This structure has been engineered to perform a dual function: it supports the mainsail sheeting point (removing loads from the
  • • The Cockpit and Living Area: Clearly divided between relaxation and manoeuvring areas. It features two large, fold-down dining tables that can transform into additional external sunbathing beds, protected from the wind and spray.
  • ⛵ Timoneria e Filosofia "Easy Sailing"
  • In line with the shipyard's DNA, the Hanse 588 is designed to be managed entirely by one person directly from the helm stations:
  • • Centralisation of Manoeuvres: All sheets, halyards, and control lines run inside channels recessed under the deck to emerge exclusively at the winches positioned near the helm stations. The helmsman can adjust the sails, tack, and steer without ever
  • • Rig and Jib Self-Tacking: The sloop features a powerful sail plan of approximately 157 sqm (in the standard configuration), supported as standard by the self-tacking jib track positioned forward of the mast. For reaching or light wind conditions, a second forestay is available as an option to fly a gennaker
  • • Platform and Tender Garage: The aft section includes a large hydraulic swim platform that, once opened, reveals access to the tender garage, designed to accommodate a service dinghy (up to approximately 2.80 metres) with longitudinal launch and recovery system.

Lower Deck

  • The interior of the Hanse 588 is based on a design philosophy that is diametrically opposed to that of pure racer-cruisers: the goal here is to maximise the living volume, headroom and domestic brightness, transforming the yacht into a true floating villa for
  • With an average height in the main areas exceeding 2.15 metres, the interior architecture plays on square geometries, generous surfaces and strong technological integration.
  • ⛵ The Saloon and Living Area
  • The main saloon takes full advantage of the maximum beam of 5.20 metres, offering a bright and reconfigurable environment that receives light from no less than 20 different sources between hatches and portholes:
  • • Multifunctional Saloon (port side): Features a large "U"-shaped sofa surrounded by a dining table that can be opened and electrically lowered (which can transform into an enormous additional double bed).
  • • Lounge or Chart Area (starboard side): on the starboard side, a second linear sofa, two separate lounge armchairs divided by a cocktail table, or a traditional chart station with navigation instruments and Hanse Smart Yachting System domotic panel.
  • • The Central Island Galley: This is one of the distinctive features of this model. Arranged in an "L" shape or corridor layout, it extends towards the bow and can integrate a proper central island support. It is equipped with spacious drawer refrigerators, freezer, three-burner gas oven
  • 🛏️ The "Silent Master Cabin" Concept and the Night Area
  • Hanse has paid particular attention to thermal and acoustic insulation, introducing advanced engineering solutions for night-time comfort:
  • • The Owner's Suite (Bow): This cabin features the patented "Silent Master Cabin" concept. The bulkheads separating it from the saloon and technical areas have been built with a special stratification of varying density and sound-absorbing materials, eliminating the noise of the systems and
  • • Aft Guest Cabins: Under the cockpit, two symmetrical twin double cabins develop. Thanks to the Judel/Vrolijk hull design, these cabins do not suffer from the typical sense of claustrophobia of 50-foot yachts: the height above the bed is generous and the side passages allow for easy movement
  • • The Utility Cabin / Bunk Beds (Optional): On the port side, aft of the galley, the standard layout includes a walk-in storage/laundry room or a fourth cabin with bunk beds, ideal for crew or children.
  • 🛠️ Finishes, Systems and Onboard Comfort
  • The industrial modularity of the German shipyard is reflected in the precision of the fittings and the choice of materials:
  • • Cabinetry and Materials: The interiors are available in various essences, from classic Mahogany to the modern French Oak or Chestnut, combined with high-resistance pagliolati that simulate teak or walnut. All furniture has rounded edges with protective trim
  • • Domotic and Scenographic Lighting: The Hanse 588 uses a fully LED dimmable lighting system, divided into zones (direct lights, floor courtesy lights and indirect LED strips recessed into the ceilings) to create different atmosphere scenarios day and night.
  • • Compartmentalised air conditioning: The air conditioning and heating system (optional over 40,000 BTU) is piped independently to each individual cabin, allowing autonomous regulation of flows and temperatures via local digital thermostats.
